| Founded in 1889, Eatonville officially incorporated as a town October 28, 1909. Eatonville is located at 46°52'6" North, 122°16'12" West (46.868253, -122.270065). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.4 km˛ (1.7mi˛) and lies between 810 and 1050 feet above sea level. We are a small community of about 2200 people and about 950 households. Eatonville is located about thirty minutes from Mt. Rainier National Park, and are just six miles southeast of Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. We are a former lumber town with a rich history, with a large mill pond and sawdust burner left behind as a reminder of those times. We also have a large mural depicting the era on the back of the Motel. We have 4300 acre Pack Forest less than 5 miles west from our town where people from the University of Washington teach others about sustainable forestry, so the legacy continues in a new way. We have one grocery store, one gas station, one motel in town, and one red blinking street light. We have numerous parks, including a nature park and a new skateboard park in the family park we're building. Eatonville just finished installing an about 60 ft. play structure in the family park, and will be adding a preschool age play structure this fall. A covered picnic area and public restroom and historical museum are all part of the park plan. | |||||||||||||
